Short version: no accounts, no cookies, no ads, and we never sell anything about you.

Your game progress

Your moves, streak, stats and badges are saved in your own browser (local storage) so you can come back to a case; clearing your browser data deletes them.

The leaderboard

When you solve a case, the page sends your solving time, number of hints and a random player number (with a random detective name such as “Inspector Amber Owl”) to our leaderboard. We do not store your name, e-mail or IP address with it.

Hosting and visitor counts

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes technical data (such as your IP address) to deliver and protect the pages. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without tracking you across sites.

The e-mail list (only if you join)

If you sign up for the Case Club, your e-mail address is stored by our e-mail provider, Kit (kit.com), and used only to send you news about our puzzles and books. You'll be asked to confirm first, every e-mail has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

Sharing your badge

The "Case solved" badge is drawn in your browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share it yourself.
