About Room for Murder Daily
A free murder mystery you solve on a floor plan — a new case every day since 13 October 2026.
What it is
Room for Murder is a logic puzzle with a story — the genre puzzle fans call a murder sudoku. Every case is a top-down floor plan of a house, café, hotel or farm, cut into rooms and full of furniture. A handful of suspects each make one statement (“She was beside the piano”, “He was alone with Ada”). Place everyone so that there is exactly one person in every row and every column and nobody stands on solid furniture. The victim was alone in a room with exactly one other person — that person is the killer.
The week has a rhythm: gentle 5×5 houses on Monday, 7×7 mansions with gardens on Saturday, and on Sunday a liar case where the killer's statement is false. Through November the cases move to Cranberry Hollow for Thanksgiving, and from 30 November to snowed-in Juniper Falls for Christmas.
How the cases are made
Every floor plan, armchair and suspect is drawn by our own code — there are no AI images in the game. A generator builds each case and two solvers check it: one proves there is exactly one solution, the other proves you can reach it by pure deduction, without ever guessing. The same solver writes the step-by-step solution you see on each past case page and in the printable PDFs.
Who makes it
Room for Murder comes from Midnight Motive, a small independent studio run by puzzle author Eray Sarıca. Midnight Motive also makes printable murder-mystery party games and the Case Files logic puzzles, sold on Etsy. The daily game is also on itch.io.

Using the puzzles
You're welcome to print the free cases for your family, class, library or club, and to link to any case. Please don't sell them or re-upload the files; link to roomformurder.com/printable instead. Bloggers and journalists: screenshots of a past case are fine with a link back.
